M31

During the 1995-1997 observing seasons, the FCRAO 14 meter telescope imaged the CO J=1-0 emissions from the southwestern half of the Andromeda galaxy. The resultant image shows a good correspondance between CO and optical dust lanes. The molecular ring identified from lower resolution studies is actually comprised of distinct spiral features. More detailed analysis of the molecular emission reveals evidence for non-circular motions in the central regions of M31.
