The subdirectories s4, s5, s6 each contain 100 reduced scans of the same region of the sky and are sorted such that the first scan within s4 is the same position as the first scans of s5 and s6. To combine the data to produce one averaged map (100 averaged scans) in s7, one uses the : punctuation. S10> s7 erase S10> s7 = s4 : s5 : s6 ave S10> = s7 base
An alternative set of commands which also averages the three maps uses the SORT (by position) and AVERAGE functions and the BY punctuation. S10> s7 erase S10> s7 = s4 s5 s6 sort by 3 ave S10> = s7 base
