The STP procedure starts the tracking programs with whatever parameter values were in use at the time of the last system use. Thus, if you were the last user, or you are rebooting the system, the tracking programs should return to the setup that you were using for your observations. However, it is always a good idea for observers to review the SCREEN information displayed on the command terminal immediately after startup and check the parameter values in use. (see section 1.7 for a checklist of information.)
The tracking programs are initiated in the system's HALT mode, which means that commands to point the telescope will not be obeyed. Before entering POINT mode to enable source tracking, however, the observer must turn on the power to the antenna and subreflector if this has not already been done.
