In the continuum mode, only a position error will cause data-taking to
pause, whereas in the spectral line mode any of the conditions listed below
will halt data-taking until the error condition is removed or circumvented:
- not on position
- If either the Az or El position error is
larger than the amount set by the TOL command, data-taking will stop
and wait for the error to drop back within
tolerance. When the position error is out of
tolerance, the errors displayed on screen 1
will flash. Current setting is displayed in
millidegrees at bottom of screen 1.
- rcvr out of lock
- If the phase lock loop in the local oscillator
system is out of lock, a message and bell are displayed on the Tek4023.
- total power out of range
- During a spectral line observation, if the DVM
panel meter reading differs from its reading
at the start of data-taking by more than the
tolerance set by TPTOL , then data-taking will stop, and a message
will be output.
Audio alarms are installed in the control room and living area
that can be used to warn the user when no data has been stored
on disk for n minutes. Typing ALERT n causes the tracking program to watch
the current scan number. If this does not change within n minutes, the alarm
sounds. To turn off the alarm, either type ALERT n to start over again or
ALERT 0 to turn off the alert software.
