The Antenna

The 14m telescope is programmed to track a variety of possible targets. For a typical observation, the observer enters the coordinates of the source and the telescope will track that position on the sky until a new position is selected, either by the observer or by the computer under the control of a data collection program. In this section, we summarize the commands available for control of the telescope and subreflector, entry of source coordinates, and addition of pointing offsets to coordinates.
