Command entry at the VT100 terminal in the Control Room

In order to enter a command at the VT100, the user must activate the OPCOM task to "get the computer's attention." This is done by momentarily depressing any key on the VT100 keyboard. When activated at the VT100, OPCOM will sound a beep and place a cursor on the bottom line of the screen. An identifier (?CTL) will appear just above the cursor to indicate that the Command console is ready for input. The user may now type a command string and a carriage return to enter the command.
