Previous: Activate Instrument Computers
The tracking programs on the MODCOMP communicate with a distributed
network of microprocessors which control the various instruments
through an ethernet connection regulated by a central microprocessor.
This processor, named PRESCOTT, is located directly in front of the
MODCOMP in the annex. The observer needs to activate the program
on the PC which regulates the communication between the various
Observatory computers. To do this, either reboot PRESCOTT
which activates the program automatically or at the DOS prompt,
type:
BRIDGE
This program is essential for any data collection programs
which use FAAS or the QEF spectrometers and to transfer raw
data from the MODCOMP to the UNIX workstation.
